Join us for a day hike to Mt. Hardy.
This roughly 4.73 mile out and back includes wide beautiful views, several creeks and great views! You travel on part of the great Mountains to Sea trail and enjoy a nice view of the Blue Ridge Range and Parkway. This is a difficult hike.
There are several creek crossings, so make sure and wear a good pair of hiking boots and be ready to get your boots a little wet and muddy. The payoff is wonderful as you crest the hill into a nice place to rest in the meadow and enjoy the view, then we will ascend Mt. Hardy.
Transportation is limited and will depart from the Cullowhee Recreation Center at 9AM on Tuesday morning. The drive from the Recreation Center is about 55 minutes.
Fee: $7
What to bring:
-Day Pack
-Snacks
-Lunch
-Water - 1.5 Liters is a good amount
-Sunscreen (If needed)
-Hat & sunglasses
-Clothing in Layers & Synthetic or Wool (No Cotton)
-Rain Gear (just in case)
Total Miles Hiked: ~ 4.73 ~
Total Hiking Time (estimated) ~ 3.75 to 4 hours ~
Energy Miles = Amount of Miles plus elevation gain: ~ 7.3 miles ~
Temperatures at higher elevations can fluctuate quickly and can be much cooler than expected. Please remember to bring extra layers, in case you need it.
